Everything changed when she stopped seeking validation from others and
rested in His unshakable love.
Now, she lives loved because she is affirmed by the King.
Fear no longer defines her, for His truth anchors her soul.
She walks in freedom, knowing she is chosen, valued, and deeply cherished.
Friend, whose voice holds the most weight in your life—God’s or the enemy’s?
What would change if you truly believed what God had declared about you?
I’ve asked myself these questions recently, especially when I considered pausing writing, podcasting, nearly everything. I began to unravel when I took my eyes off Jesus and started looking at me🤷🏾♀️. In the worst seasons and even in the best—it happens💁🏾♀️. We can get tripped up by a fiery dart.
I froze and canceled just about everything because the spirit of fear tried to take hold of me. Voices challenging my relevance, worthiness, and effectiveness taunted me🙆🏾♀️. Why is this happening?
The origin of the attack caught me off guard. I needed to process what happened, so I withdrew from just about everything except pressing commitments. The battle for my mind was fierce. I began questioning relationships and what to say when. Ugh.🤦🏾♀️
I'm so grateful to the LORD. He never left me, especially when I felt hurt by someone’s words. He held me and repeatedly renewed my mind concerning His great love for me. He nurtured me at the cross, unveiled His wounds, and reminded me His sufferings were for my freedom—my healing. He affirmed me. He appointed me. He anointed my head with oil and restored my joy.
I am continuing to feast on His sweetness, and I am undone by His beauty. He is altogether lovely. As I soak in His love, fear melts like ice. Truly, Truly, Perfect Love banishes all fear, and perfect peace is granted to those whose minds are stayed on Him. Amen🙏🏾.
Meditation:
“And David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because all the people were bitter in soul, each for his sons and daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.” 1 Samuel 30:6.
II. Lesson Learned.
Fear often carries a measure of credibility rooted in some aspect of factual reality. But when set against the word of God, it is an outright lie. Therefore, we must set thoughts, suggestions, and experiences against God’s plumbline—the Word.
❦
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”Romans 12:2.
I am reminded that the enemy doesn’t come dressed in a red suit with horns—he comes cloaked in half-truths, firing subtle darts of deception into the mind. As the prince of the power of the air, his greatest weapons are thoughts and suggestions. What I wasn't prepared for was him using someone close to me to sow doubt, making it much more plausible and reasonable.
Minding the company one keeps and sharing only what the Holy Spirit deems appropriate with people is essential. Sometimes, what the Lord gives is for us. Sometimes, sharing something too soon or with the wrong person or group can lead to improper advice or a door for unbelief to be sown. It isn’t that the person is bad, but they may not be where God has us in our journey. I was reminded that some people cannot accompany you in the season God has you in presently, and that’s okay. I also was reminded that some pruning may need to be performed to go where the Lord is taking us.
“Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.”
1 Corinthians 15:33.
❦
“Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.”
Proverbs 13:20.
Beloved, this is why clinging tightly to the Word of Christ is not optional—it is critical. The devil is after the mind. If he can shape our thinking, he can influence our decisions. He cannot stop destiny, but we can. It’s not about reasoning and wrestling with the enemy.
❦
“For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh.”
2 Corinthians 10:3.
It’s about knowing the Word—wielding it.
❦
“For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete.”
2 Corinthians 10:4-6.
❦
⚠️Satan knows Scripture, but only to distort it—just as he did with Eve in the garden and with Jesus in the wilderness. This is why we must not only hide God’s Word in our hearts but also let it fuel us, anchoring us in every circumstance, especially those where we feel a level of human confidence.
III. Walk Likewise.
The account of Jesus in the wilderness reveals the enemy for who he is and what he is after—but, more importantly, it shows Jesus for who He is and demonstrates how we can walk likewise in times of testing.
“Now when all the people were baptized, and when Jesus also had been baptized and was praying, the heavens were opened, and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form, like a dove; and a voice came from heaven, “You are my beloved Son;
with you I am well pleased.”
Luke 3:21-22.
The deception of Eve in the garden, “Did God actually say…” is similar to Jesus in the wilderness, “If you are the Son of God...” Let that simmer. They look different but the enemy’s basis is the same. He desires to twist what God said and distort God-appointed identity. The devil heard what God the Father said to Jesus. He witnessed the Spirit rest upon Him. Friend, the enemy also heard what Abba has declared over us. He knows His Spirit dwells in us.
The enemy is after the word because he knows its power and importance. It is God’s word that sealed His fate. His chief mode of attack is our identity. He is the king of identity politics, so don't engage!
Give him the Word, which is the sword of the Spirit, and he will get the point🗡️.
Here are some breath prayers rooted in the word:
Breathe in: I am
Breathe out: Chosen by God!
“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you
out of darkness into his marvelous light.”
1 Peter 2:9.
❦
Breathe in: I am
Breathe out: Valued by God!
“Knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ,
like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.”
1 Peter 1:18-19.
❦
Breathe in: I am
Breathe out: Loved by God!
“In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and
sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”
1 John 4:10.
❦
Healed—when we receive and believe the truth that we are accepted and affirmed by God, in Christ, and through the Spirit alone.
IV. Journal Prompts.
Whose voice has been influencing your self-perception recently?
❦Take a moment to reflect on the voices that have shaped how you see yourself—God’s truth, the enemy’s lies, or the opinions of others. How have these voices impacted your confidence, decisions, and faith? Write down the affirmations God declares over you in His Word (1 Peter 2:9, 1 John 4:10, Romans 12:2), and ask Him to silence any voice that contradicts His truth.
Where has fear tried to redefine you?
❦Think about a time when fear made you question your worth, calling, or purpose. What lies did the enemy use, and how did they challenge what God has spoken over you? Using 2 Corinthians 10:4-6, write out a battle plan for replacing fear with God’s truth. What Scriptures will you meditate on to strengthen your mind?
How do you actively affirm your identity in Christ?
❦Jesus overcame the enemy’s lies in the wilderness by standing on God’s Word (Luke 3:21-22, Matthew 4:1-11). How can you do the same? Reflect on practical ways to renew your mind daily—whether through prayer, Scripture meditation, speaking breath prayers over yourself, and declaring the word in circumstances. Then, write a personal declaration of who you are in Christ and commit to proclaiming it over your life.
